I will make a banner later.

This journal is mostly private. A select few posts may be made public or friends only.

Mostly this will be scribblings and original works. Because I cannot sketch worth a damn, it will be for writings only.

Have a nice day~

(Comment to tell me who you are and how the hell you found me. Possibly several friends only entries will be opened to you.)

I was thinking today of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star
How I wonder what you are

This is the Chinese version:

一闪一闪亮晶晶
满天都是小星星

Here's a very literal translation (note my Chinese is er, well. Let's say no one would have been surprised if I had failed my PSLE Mandarin):

[one][flash/lightning][one][flash/lightning][bright][glitter][glitter]
[whole][sky/heaven][all/entire][is][small][star][star]

A flash, a flash, and glitter bright
All the sky is little stars

Alternate translation

What caught me is the difference between the second lines of both versions. Isn't it amazing? How the sky can be so prosaic and so vast all at once?

How I Wonder What You Are: all the sky is little stars
a ReMyth thing

May Induce Drowsiness )

I think we have established that I am no poet, but eh. I think all influences are fairly obvious. Title is a lame reference to opium.

To Armistice Day, everyone.

Not exactly perfect, but have a piece of mythological nonsense. Strong influence from Chinese mythology.

Here is my handle and empty spout )

Partially inspired by T. S. Eliot's The Hollow Men.

Like, the first line and some of the pacing.

Then I tangented off into merry-go-rounds, and tea parties, and exploding tin men.

I had to look for my IB diploma today. THIS IS WHAT IT HAS DONE TO MY SOUL.

Cut for potentially mature themes )

1) I am trying to boldly go where I have rarely gone before and post public things.
2) Hey, free reading! Consider it my very late contribution to International Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Day.
3) Yes, okay, I am having a very bad day.
4) Which is why I'm not completely sorry if I've ruined The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
